Boat Ride in Arraial do Cabo

The brazilian agency Don Juan Tour promotes various types of trips in Arraial do Cabo, in the Lakes Region (Região dos Lagos) in Rio de Janeiro, from private and collective boat tours to the beaches, as well as Jeep tours. When we were in town, we chose the collective boat ride, because this is a different ride, more selective. The tour guide Juan himself, owner of the agency and driver of the boat, is careful to make a more selected tour.

Juan says, for example, that during the tour he cares to play better sounding tracks, and he doesn´t allow the boat to be very full, he even does not sell caipirinha on board, so as not to make the trip very “messy” and out of control. But you can buy beer along the way, and water and soft drinks are served. In addition, the agency picks up passengers at the inn where they are staying. So we left for the tour that lasts about 3 and a half hours, departing in the morning and afternoon. The route passes by beaches which can be accessed only via boat or foot trail. The expectation at the time of departure is great, since Arraial do Cabo is one of the most beautiful places in Brazil, one of the best diving spots in the world and a jewel of the Brazilian coast. It is no exaggeration to say that the sea here has is a Caribbean look, so transparente are its beautiful waters. The tour´s first stop: the Lighthouse Beach (Praia do Farol), a real paradise. These unique beaches have visitation and residence time controlled by the Navy, which is necessary to preserve the site. In every beach we stopped for about 40 minutes. It makes you want to stay longer! And there are no structure in these beaches, make sure to bring sunscreen, water and something to have a bite. You won´t need anything else in this paradise …

Then we headed to Prainha Lighthouse Island. The color of the water is unbelievable, is has been elected for years as the most perfect beach in Brazil! Even if the water is colder than we find in the rest of Rio de Janeiro, it´s irresistible to dip in this crystal clear sea. But in the summer with the heat quite strong, the temperature is not so cold, and swimming here is quite refreshing. The Blue Grotto, one of the most famous points of Arraial, is also in the script. And we also passed by the impressive slit of Our Lady. At these points it is made a photo stop. The boat stops in Forno Beach too, leaving those who want to have lunch there, for it is a beach with good structure for bathers. And also because at that time the hunger hits, and local kiosks offer from appetizers such as sea fruits and sandwichs, or even more traditional dishes usually served with fish and fried potatoes. A plus aspect of Don Juan´s tour: they also offer some free time to play on this beach, where you can practice stand up paddle.

In the end, the vessel returns to Angels Beach (Praia dos Anjos), the same point where the tour begins. Bare in mind that beyond the value of the tour, 50,00 Reais per person in 2014, it is charged a Municipal fee of 3,00 Reais per passenger. We appreciate the friendliness and promptness of the guide Juan and we were very pleased to see the quality of their services.
