Riad Mimouna, located in the beach city of Essaouira, Morocco, is the only luxury hotel in town with a direct view of the sea. Its façade is right in front of the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. It is definetely a breathtaking sight. As soon as the guests arrive at the lobby it is possible to feel the special atmosphere. It has a very large lounge with sofas and delicate small round tables, stained glasses and the special touch given by the patio fountain. So beautiful! Several items of the decoration comes from Fez and from Marrakech. The suite where I stayed was amazing. By entering the room the stunning view of the ocean catches our attention and it´s hard to focus on anything else. The waves against the rocks right in front of the window of the room are a sight at the same time dramatic and amazinly beautiful. It´s possible to watch the sunset from the room, a very exclusive spectacle!
Most every room in this riad faces the sea. Each one is richly decorated, with a different color for the beds and curtains. The bathrooms are also very well decorated, with Zelij tiles, which are very traditional in this country. Riad Mimouna also features a traditional hamman, where guests can have the turkish bath. Not to be missed! Another special place in Mimouna is its restaurant. Situated on the top floor, it also has a stunning view of the ocean, as seen from the very large glass windows. Having the excellent breakfast there with this view is an ideal way to start the day. We are hypnotized by the inumerous seagulls flying over the sea, catching their fish or just relaxing under the sun.
Don´t miss the chance to have dinner at Mimouna´s restaurant. It has a very romantic atmosphere, with candle lights and cozy tables. Plus, the gastronomy there is one of the best in town, with not only moroccan dishes but international dishes as well. As it is common in many places in Morocco, it doesn´t serve alcohol because of the country´s religion, but guests are welcome to bring their own bottle of wine and have it at the restaurant. Besides all that, this riad offers a spectacular terrace that faces the sea and practically all of the Medina. Strategically located, it has a beautiful lounge perfect for sun bathing, relaxing or admiring the sunset. It is, without a doubt, the best spot in Essaouira to spend long hours admiring the view and letting the relaxing sound of the waves take charge. What a delight to sleep with this sound as a lullaby… Riad Mimouna sits right next to Essaouira´s famous fortress and fish market, so visitors are very close to the main touristic attractions. Staying there is certainly a warranty of a warm welcome in a luxurious and exclusive place with the best view in all over Morocco.
